Pilot Entry

Greetings all, and thanks for tuning in. Those of you who know me are probably now wondering something centered in the realm of these few questions:
  1. What the hell is he up to now?
  2. Why all this in this form of communication?
  3. What does he hope to gain from this?
The answers are quite simply this:

  • Publicity - I've tried my hand out at blogging before. However, I chiefly used it for mentioning more private thoughts that I'd never share with anyone else except with one other true friend. If I ever want to gain the stuff that I really want out of life, I have to force myself to learn how to express myself openly. This was one method I thought I could use to crawl out of my shell of shyness.

  • Writing works better for me than speaking - I've been told that I write well enough, but I also think I need to fine tune my writing skills as I 'll be needing them more in the future with other projects. My working modality is more visual than verbal. I suppose I can attribute (or blame) all this on finding better company with text in books than with having to listen to some [of the sometimes very annoying speaking habits of] other people. I know that I am no better for having flawed speech patterns, and realistically, I should put more effort into practicing speaking clearly out loud. Such an effort brings me to the next point.

  • Dictation – I won't be typing all the time for these entries. I will, at times, be using my speech recognition program for dictation. I always thought I could be a better speaker in general. I've even gone so far as to join Toastmasters for a while to learn how to improve and represent my thinking process better through my spoken word. That experience, plus being put in a spot of teaching other people English, certainly showed me what linguistic deficits I had. Now through the dictation utility, hopefully, it will serve as some sort of feedback mechanism for helping me to get tuned into the sound, tone, and clarity of my own voice.

  • Elaboration - Facebook is fine for an odd, occasional interjection of some brief point about minutia of some life event. However, in my mind though, so long as one is restricted to only 420 characters per posting, it will never be an adequate tool for putting the solid basis of one's underlying reasoning for any deeper thoughts. Brevity is fine (and preferred, hence the "list" objective conveyed through the title), but some things are more complex and necessarily need a more detailed explanation.

  • Improving my technical savvy – I needed a reason to practice and upkeep my ability to use and work with HTML, CSS; and to perhaps learn even more programming languages.

  • To share and tune into more of what I like – Hence the "lusts" part of the objective; as in intense liking of some things in general, nothing in a strictly erotic sense (You perverts!)

  • To gain personal feedback – For mostly on whatever project I've committed to do for myself. I need a mechanism... a machine that goes BING!*, if you will, to track my thought process to see if I'm on the right path, especially when I'm stuck on a problem, hence to organize my lost thoughts. This open form of expression may serve as a solution.

Enough said, time to get practical. **
